Fellowship Club

The Blenheim Fellowship Club meets on alternate Tuesdays throughout the year (except for August). The majority of our members are retired, but we welcome anyone who is free on a Tuesday morning.

Our meetings commence at 10:15am with coffee/tea and biscuits, accompanied by a lot of lively conversation as we exchange news and enjoy talking to each other. The formal part of the meeting commences at 10:30am and finishes by 11:45am.

Throughout 2017 we have enjoyed listening to a variety of speakers on subjects as varied as the life and loves of a scandalous flapper, the history of Bute Mills (a Luton building which has been transformed and is now the home of Youthscape), reminiscences of Peter Langford, a founder member of the Barron Knights, and the strange story of the disappearance of Glen Miller. We had two visitors on May 23rd as Geoff Lambert brought along his dog, and we heard all about the organisation which trained Medical Detection Dogs and made it possible for people with problems such as epilepsy to lead normal lives.
Sometimes we organise in-house meetings, and in June we enjoyed that old faithful, the Beetle Drive, and in October we had fun playing a selection of games such as Connect 4, dominoes and Frustration.

Our summer programme finished on July 18th with a garden party in the Gillespie's beautiful garden. It was a glorious sunny day and we enjoyed refreshments, a quiz and the opportunity to talk and look at the flowers and trees.

Once or twice a year we go on outings to places of interest or garden centres. In 2017 we visited Flitwick Manor and the sun shone as we had coffee and cookies on the terrace. In December we paid a visit to Poplars Garden Centre and enjoyed coffee, scone and a mince pie, and took the opportunity to look at all the Christmas decorations.

At each meeting we have a time of prayer and remember those of our members who are ill or going through a worrying time. We usually have oyr own services at Easter and Christmas, and we are grateful to those who lead us in these times of worship. Unfortunately our Christmas Service planned for December 12th could not take place because of snow!

As we have already said anyone who is available on Tuesday mornings is welcome to join us please see the table below for future dates.
